Machine (Brown), afeni mg up, jumped away at the mil» half peg and, after jogging a J a l "* a picked up by Dad's Hope led till a short distancehL l^., post, when Auto Machine r≥ 2?«» and he was going W* l D i- rt H ! ffl* mile and a £»*s? 3.4*. the last half-mile in 1.8/ Dad's w n ran his mile and a quarter in Tn ak lasthalf taking 1.9 * 80l g£«Ubj
Etta Cole (Willetts) and Gold Trea*,, (Laver) were companions over an Zt two miles, run in 5.21. They were \T 7 showing speed at any part. never Jock Bingen (P. Smith) put i n a Inf { work, his best half being done in ft ° f Moko Chief (Evans), although incliw to tangle paced a half-mile in LK d ' Stoney (Tuke) was given steady Groover a couple of rounds. ' er a«s Benefice (Morrison) was sent a mil* and a quarter which she covered in 39 *?!*&£& pace over the last i Explosion (Clifton), going ai the trotting gait, was allowed to stroll round at his own pace for a couple of miles. Over the last half-mile he was asked to 7Z along and he came the last half in 110 2-5 doing it easily. Seeing that he was trotting, his.effort was, perhaps, the best of the morning. esi Prince Etawah (Shepherd) Olivo* Thorpe (Willetts), Margaret''wX (Sandall) and Modern Light (PhiZ) lined up to do a mile and a half. At the start Modern Light and Margaret Waihw;e went out three lengths in front of Oliver Thorpe, with Prince Etawah about' three lengths further back. Margaret Wallace and Modern Light made play ii front till well in the straight, when Oliver Thorpe got through on the inside and won by a length and a half from Modern Light with Margaret Wallace a neck away and Prmce Etawah almost in line. •'Oliver Thorpe finished too strong for his companions, but Prince Etawah, after trailing the Others and giving them several lengths into the straight, also finished well. Tumatakuru (F. Smith) was sent two miles, being picked up over the last mile and a quarter by .Carnui (C. Smith) and Student Prince. (O'Kane). Tumatakuru was disappointing, but Carnui went well and beat his companions easily. He paced his mile and a quarter in 37 Student Prince taking 3.8. Tumatakuru was several lengths away pulled up. Gold Jacket (McMahon) and the maiden Mazda (Evans) put in useful work,.sprinting the last half-mile in 1.11 2-5. Mazda shaped very well for a novice.
Mountain Guide worked short sprints, but did not impress.
Roi Grande, Dan Direct, Satinbird and Great Fame were not exercised on the track, but merely walked about the centre. Moko Girl (Dye) put in a fair amount of steady exercise:
