PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD.
1 The Papatoetoe Town Board met last evening, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, chairman, presiding. Cemetery Site Purchased.—The chairman reported that the purchase of a cemetery site of 16% acres, off Pa Road, 3 to the west of Papatoetoe, had been completed. The cost wae £820. It was ' decided to arrange for the preparation " of a lay-out plan which would preserve the natural advantages of the area, and also . to allocate portions to the church organisax tions in the district. It was stated that 3 evidences of early Maori fortifications , remained m the terraced contour of the , site. 3 Dingwall Orphanage.—A rebate of 10 , per cent on the cost of all water supplied 1 to tne Dingwall Presbyterian Orphanage i was approved. i Salary "Cut."—A five per cent "cut" in i the salaries and wages, of the majority of r the board's staff was decided upon. For 1 the lower-paid men the reduction will be 2 Id per hour. The change is to take effect i at the beginning of August. Mr EH 1 Burton chairman of the finance commit- - tee said the total saving would be about i £100 a year. h .
