COMMUNITY CLUB.
MOVEMENT AT BIRKENHEAD. A preliminary meeting of those interested approved the principle of a community club a.t Birkenhead. The Mayor, Mr. J. P. MePhail, presided. A committee was appointed to further the project, and is to report to another meeting in three weeks. The object is to centralise the social activities of the district by the provision of a meeting room with social facilities, and fitted with wireless, besides a women's rest room and a Plunket room. It is hoped to have 200 members, at an annual subscription of £1.
