STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

AN IMPROVED HORSE. Since racing at the Taumarunui meeting Full Measure has not been allotted any work of a fast nature, but he looks an improved horse in every respect. I lie Surveyor gelding has done exceptionally well under Geo. Holland's guidance and with the speed that he possesses it should not be difficult for that trainer to win more money with him. Full Measure may do much better when the lighter scale of weights come into operation again. HAS GOOD PROSPECTS. Although United was not equal to winning a race among the two-year-old division earlier in the season, his form was sufficiently good to warrant him being regarded as a possible winner early in the new period. The Acre gelding was given a spell after the autumn meetings, but is now in regular work again at Ellerslie, and his trainer, D. P. Moraghan, has him well forward for the coming 6eason. GENERAL LU WELL. General Lu looks an improved horse as the result of the racing he has been indulged in during the past few months, and he will be in good order for the Pakuranga Hunt Club meeting next month. Up to the present General Lu's form has been nothing to enthuse over, but he is still young, and not yet properly seasoned, therefore it would be unwise to judge him until he has had more racing experience.

A CONSISTENT 'CHASER. Although Copey lias only won two races this season his form has been consistent, for he has been placed on twelve otbei occasions. Most of these performances have been recorded in cross-country lacos, in which one of his best efforts was his third in the Wellington Steeplechase last Saturdav. Copey is engaged in the July Steeplechase, to be run at Trentham on Saturdav, and in view of his latent toim should be in the picture at the finish oi that event. STILL IN HOSPITAL. The latest advice received concerning L J Ellis, who had a bad fall from Topere at .Wingatui, is that he-is doing very well, but will be an inmate of the Dunedin Hospital for another four or live weeks (savs a Southern writer). Mis leg has mended satisfactorily, _ but he is troubled by afFected eyesight, caused through the skull being fractured, and it is on this account that he is being kept in hospital for special treatment. MAKING GOOD PROGRESS. When Karangapai was put into work earlier in the season, after a lengthy spell, he was carrying a bit of surplus condition, but he is now rounding up into proper shape again. So far he has not been required to do any fast work, but he is steadily improving and building up into a solid looking customer, who will be .ready to race when the ground becomes firm again. Karanagapai displayed promising form during the spring meetings, and should develop into a good useful four-year-old. ALL DOING WELL. The three maiden candidates in J. Williamson's stable, Moonfleet, Loterie and Tatyoon, have settled nicely to their work and are all doing well in their preparation at headquarters. Moonfleet and Tatyoon in particular, _ look to have benefited by their spell since the autumn, while Loterie also bears a healthy appearance, though he is one of the light-fleshed sort that carries little surplus condition. Tatyoon has furnished into a fine looking ptelding who is likely to do well during the coming season. He has already shown a fair amount of promise in his track work, but on account of growing very fast was not seriously tried. HORSES FOR GISBORNE. Kamehameha, Xuki Boy and Lady Vane left Auckland last night by boat for Gis- ! borne, to fulfil engagements at the Gisborne winter meeting. The first-named pair will be ridden by P. Mcllroy.
