OWNER DISQUALIFIED. CLAREMORE AND NATIONALS. HORSE NOW UNABLE TO START. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Holding that he had used -bad language to an official of t'he club the stew ards oi the Wellington Racing Club yesterday disqualified S. Malone, owner-trainer of C'laremore, till September 1 next. Claremore had just previous]}" won the High-weight Handicap, for which he started third favourite at Trentham. As the disqualification of a trainer automatically brings with it the disqualification of any horses owned bv him Claremore will not be able to race in the C.J.C. Grand Nationals at Riccarton. The rule under which Malone was disqualified is Rule 7, part -4, of the of Racing, which reads:—'The stewards may fine any person at any time guilty oi improper behaviour toward any steward, member of the committee or official, in a. sum not exceeding £50, or may disqualify such person for any period not exceeding one year." Malone trains at Avondale, and Claremore is the best horse he has had for a long time. He has won several races this season, and is a versatile horse, being equally successful on the flat, over hurdles and in steeplechases. At the Great Northern meeting last month he finished second to Spalpiko in the Winter Steeplechase, and his performance suggested ne would 'be prominent in further important cross-country events. In the Wellington Steeplechase on Saturday he was Holding a good position when he came to griet, ana vetserday he beat the fancied division in the high-weight. The son of Cynic _ Waikohu promised to be_ a strong lauC3 j and a worthy representative for Auckland in the Canterbury Grand Nationals, but the disqualification of the owner cancels Claremore's engagements.
