FOOD GOT BY FRAUD.

Several charges of obtaining groceries by false pretences'and two of stealing a cycle and overcoat, were brought against Norman Leslie Fincham (21), a labourer, at the Police Court to-day. He pleaded guilty to all counts. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said that accused, in some instances, sent a boy to a store at New Lynn to get the goods. He was no stranger to the Court, having four previous convictions for similar offences. . Appearing for accused, Mr. Noble said Fincham slept in a shed. He wanted some-food, as he was hungry, and he took the overcoat because he was cold. Constable Boag said Fincham had been causing some trouble in the locality by his petty thefts. "He received three months' imprisonment the last time; now he will get six months," said Mr. Hunt.
