■ Mr. K. P. Emory, of Honolulu, is at Hotel Stouehurst. Mr P Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. Julian B. Foster, United States Trade Commissioner, returned to Wellington last evening. Mrs D. M. Mason, wife of Mr. 1T... G. R. Mason, M.P., has been appointed an associate of the Children's Court at Auckland. Captain R. S. Lewis, local superintendent for the Shaw, Savill and Alb:jn Company, returned by the Limited this morning from Wellington. Messrs. A. Harris,. E. Lye, W. Lee Martin, H. G. R. Mason, W. W. Massey, and W. Parry, M.P.'s, returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. D. E. S. Mason, engineer for the Bluff Harbour Board, is present en route to England. His visit is in connection with the purchase of a new tug for Bluff. The Hons. C. J. Carrington, W. Stewart, E. W. Alison, and W- H. McIntyre, M.L.C.'s, arrived from Wellington by the Limited thi3 morning. Professor T. R. Mar-shall, formerly professor, of chemistry and metallurgy at Glasgow University, is visiting Auckland. Ho lias had extensive experience of gold mining in North and South America. Mr;*! S. T. Williamson, of Hongkong, who is visiting New Zealand on behalf of a Chinese shipping company 'n nonnection with the purchase at Wellington of the steamers Kamona and Kaituna from the Union Steam Ship Company, is at the Grand Hotel. General Sir George Richardson, president, and Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, vicepresident of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, returned this morning from attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association in Wellington. Captain W. P. Clifton-Mogg, R.N.R., who. expects to leave England for New Zealand in August, intends to 'joend a month hero before going to Sydney. Ho has been appointed marine superintendent in Australia of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company. Mr. D. G. Davidson, general manager of the Anglo-South American Bank, Ltd., London, who has been spending a holiday in Australia and New Zealand, leaves for Vancouver next week on his way buck to England. Mr. Davidson was an inspector of the Colonial Bank ofNew Zealand nearly 30 years ago. At the animal meeting of the Parliamentary Press Gallery Mr. Gordon Freeman ("Evening Post") was elected chairman for the ensuing year, and Mr. 11. J. Fleming ("The Sun") vice-chair-man. Appreciative reference was made' to the services of the retiring chairman, Mr. K. L. Usmar ("Auckland Star").
