TAKANINI TRACKS.

HIGH COMEDY PLEASING. SINGLETON DOING WELL. CAPTAIN DOLLAR FOR GISBOENE. Very little in the nature of fast work is being executed at present on the tracks owing to the state of the ground following recent rains. Most of the work is undertaken in the centre, the only ones using the track under favourable conditions •being the yearlings and candidates with coming engagements. : Bronze Eagle has not been above half pace work, but his present appearance shows that he is relishing the work allotted him and is becoming more solid. It is hardly likely that he will be lacking on the score of •condition when he undertakes the Tasman trip. High Comedy continues to.please and is showing quite a lot of his old dash; in tact he is daily giving his pilot something to do to restrain him to the desired pace. Shaping Well. Royal Artist looks racy despite his recent spell, and although it was not generally thought that he would again come to hand as quickly as High Comedy, he is shaping well enough to indicate that it will not be a great length of time after the new season opens that he will be found saluting the judge. ! Bell Topper (Canusa —Marriage Beli) is a finely-grown colt and infuses plenty of vim into his work-outs. He is expected to carry Dr. W. C. Ring's colours in Australia before being seen out here, and his present progress makes him appear an early prospect. Lord Willonyx was raced comparatively little during the current season, but during iiis few outings notched a couple of wins at the Dargaville meeting. He has enjoyed a lengthy spell and has resumed work under C. Morse's' guidance, looking quite healthy and appears to have wintered well. Amber Link failed to get on the winning list this season, but showed distinct promise in her last outing at Pukekoiie when she ran fourth to Teels, United and Royal Gallant. • By Tea Tray—Secret Link, she is bred the right way and should do well next season. Captain Dollar's Wellington trip now being off his mentor is preparing him wiih a view to the approaching Gisbornc fixture. In his previous efforts the Paper Money gelding showed an abundance of speed for a few furlongs, but his latest track work indicates that he has become more solid and has been covering more ground with greater ease. In a maiden at Gisborne this fellow should be decidedly hard to dispose of. Mashoor seems to have lost a great deal of the soreness which has been troubling him during the past couple of months and he is now striding out with much more freedom in his work. In Good Fettle. Ruffles looks in good fettle _ and his previous good form makes his future prospects very bright. He has executed some nice work-outs on his visits to the tracks and is thriving on the tasks allotted him. Kamehameha, since being taken in hand by R. Gourlay, has not been seen on the tracks, but is being given work away from the course.

The Tea Tray—Epitaph colt is striding out in such a style that he impresses one likely to go very fast when asked the question. The Surveyor—Thurence youngster is developing into an attractive looking youngster and has made really good headway of late. She.is not a .big yearling, but looks likely to possess speed. Tui Mint is responding nicely in his tasks and looks in good order. He is not yet in racing trim, but he should be founi sporting silk early in the new season. H. Goseomb is thinking of again going to Gisborne. where he has previously enjoyed a fair measure of success with his team and should the trip eventuate it is on the cards that White Wings, St. Ames and Trustee will be the candidates to journey' south. Singleton has been doing well of late and promises to be.in great order for the Wellington meeting. Following his two seconds at Te Awamutu he ran a great race in the Northern, and will he worth watching at Wellington. As he had not had a great deal of jumping experience his early essays were promising, and he has only to go on the right way to develop into a first-class leaper. If Dominican jumps as well as he is expected to next week at Ellerslie he should be in the limelight. He is getting through any amount of work and promises to he a fit horse to tackle his coming engagements. _ , G. Home, a brother of R. Home, who is attached to E. Pope's stable here, has joined the same establishment. Only a light boy he bids fair to being as capable as brother Ronnie, who is becoming known in sporting circles as "the dividend jockey." . „ . Ganpat and Vale and shaping well, and both are in nice order. Vali is being worked along more seriously and is standing up to his work in a hopeful manner. Ganpat has shown a slight improvement during the last few weeks and has _ displayed galloping ability in the few times he has been asked to go fast. Hector Gray has been an absentee from the tracks for the past week owing to a slight chill, which has confined him to his bed. •
