OTAHUHU BUS FARES.
COUNCIL MOVES FOR REDUCTION. At the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last evening, Mr. Arey raised the question of bus fares and said the time had arrived for the council to advocate a reduction. Some effort should be made by the bus company to pass on the 10 per cent reduction, as it affects every householder in the borough, especially the workers' fares. Papatoetoe had taken action and were able to get fares reduced from 7/6 to 6/6. The council had agreed with the company on a scale of fares which were subject to revision, and. the company should be advised the time for revision had arrived. The Mayor, Mr. H. T. Clements, said there was no reason why the council should not meet the company and come to a decision. The scale of fares was to be revised from three to six months from the date of the agreement. Mr. Laws said the number of ru,ns could be reduced, as he' could see no reason for a quarter-hour service to the city. A committee was set up to interview the Passenger Transport Company.
