WANTS A WIFE.

AUSTRALIAN WRITES HOME.

LONDON, May 14. "I will do my beet," says Alderman Devonport, Mayor of Gillingham, who has received a letter from Frederick Elliot, of Tully, North Queensland, asking him to find a wife for him. Elliot says that a year ago he read in an English paper that a girl had asked the Mayor to find her a partner, and suggests that, if she has found a mate, perhaps the Mayor knows of someone else. "I am 35, in good employment, and own a house and other property," saya Elliot in his letter.
