BISHOP GRATIFIED.
SUCCESSFUL MURDER APPEAL. LONDON, May 20. The Bishop of Liverpool, Dr, A. A. David, said he was very glad the appeal against the conviction of William Wallace, who was sentenced to death for the murder of his wife, had been allowed, as he was never satisfied that the evidence justified the verdict of the jury. That was why there were intercessory prayers in the cathedral on Sunday last. There were extraordinary scenes when Wallace was released. He was literally hugged by his friends and lawyers.
