MOUNT EDEN FINANCE.

Would you kindly allow me space to make a few comments regarding Mount Eden finance? Mr. Nagle at the installation of the Mayor recently is reported to have stated that there was a debit of £40,000. He iaa not said, anything about the money that ifl to be received iby the council for the preseat year. It is evident that the anticipated revenue, according to previous statements, is very considerable and payments have evidently been made in anticipation of revenue from rates, which up to the present ihave not been struck, as I hare not received notice. I gather from published reports that Mr. Nagle is chairman of the finance committee. There is nothing to be gained in trying to mislead the public. Mr. Nagle must know that the revenue from rates alone will 'be ibetween £00,000 to £70,000, and also large sums from other sources, therefore to use a debit and make no reference to anticipated revenue is decidedly misleading.
