RELIEF WORKERS' SOCIAL

A successful social gathering, organised by workers under the unemployment relief scheme, was held at Gladstone Road School, Mount Albert, on Tuesday. About 100 workers and their friends were present. An appeal for gifts of refreshments, etc., had met with a generous response from trades people, not only at Mount Albert, but throughout the city. During the evening a varied and pleasant programme was rendered by numerous visiting artists. A lengthy toast list was honoured, including that of the school committee, proposed by Mr. T. Stitt.
