FAMILY REUNION.
NOVEL LONDON SCHEME. LONDON, April 18. Behind an agony column advertisement requesting members of the Hoare families to communicate with ST, Fleet Street, lies a novel family reunion plan by a London banker, Mr. Alfred Hoare. He proposes to hold an annual dinner, at which everyone belonging to his family, no matter where they may be, is invited to attend. The Hoare family has carried on Hoare's bank for 260 years in an unbroken line from father to son. The family is scattered throughout the world.
"There are a great many of us who might never meet, except accidentally once in a lifetime," declared Mr. Alfred Hoare, a grey-haired old gentleman with charming manners, in an interview.
"Both men and women will be eligible as members of our dining club, which will include those who have joined the family by marriage. We expect to hold the first dinner early in June, as anyone living abroad is most likely to come to England at this time. The club has all kinds of picturesque possibilities and many novel meetings may occur."
Hoare's bank is one of the few London banks which has preserved a mellow Victorian atmosphere.
