ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. " Arrested yesterday by Dccoctive Kempt, Gerald Rutherford, aged 2<>, a well-dressed man, appeared at the Polk-e Court this morning charged with obtain* in<* from Leonard Mawhinney on January 12, the sum of £2 by falsely representing that he was the assistant organiser of the Cancer Research Fund. Mr. Noble represented Rutherford, who denied the charge. On the application- of the', police, accused was remanded until to-morrow morning. .
