The memorandum stated tlut the rates of all salaries, wages, allowances, fees, commission, or other emoluments payable to officers, etc., in the employ of the board would be reduced. Where an officer was provided with board or lodging., or With the use of a lioutHi or,, quarters, if the value was assessed in any Act, regulation, or qualification list, such value would be taken; if tlife value was not so fixed but assessed for HUperanimation purposes, sildfli assessment would be taken; and in other cases details, were to be forwarded to the Department so that assessment might be made. All officers receiving increase's _to salary on or after April 1 were ( subject also to the reduction in respect to such increases. Travelling expenses were not subject to'the reduction, but travelling allowances or maintenance allowances dlawn by an officer were subject to ilie reduction. As regards superannuation, officers had the right, expiring on September 30, of contributing either on the higher or lower salaries. In the meantime, deductions would be niade oh the reduced salary.
