PAPAKURA, TOWN BOARD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PAPAKURA, Monday. The regular meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held'this evening, the chairman (Mr. H. L. Thornton) presiding. Renovations.—The board decided to leave the matter of painting the roof of the Town Board office in the hands of Mr. H. E. McEntee. Roads and Footpahs—lt was reported that metalling had been done on phe triangle in front of the Soldiers' Memorial, and also on the new work in Beach Road. The work included the removal of the hump on the northern boundary, and the, backing up of the metal with earth. The roadway and footpaths had been formed in Nelson Street from the Great South Road, through to East Street, and a lootpath had been formed in Manse Road and metal placed on same. Fencing had also been completed. The grading from Settlement Road to Willis Street had been commenced in Kelvin Road. Taxis in Broadway.—The clerk was instructed to write to the taxi proprietors stating that drastic action would be taken should they not conform with the arrangements agreed to with the chairman of the board. This agreement had been made with the taxi proprietors in furtherance to a complaint received concerning the danger of four cars standing abreast :n Broadway. The drivers had agreed to stand two cars in broadway and two in Elliott Street, but they had all drifted again into Broadway. Arrangements for Anzac Day service were left in the hands of the clerk and foreman, and Rev. J. F. Martin was invited to address the meeting.
