GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD.
The Glen Eden Town Board met last evening, Mr. A. J. Routley being in the chair. There was a full attendance of members. Unemployment.—A deputation of unemployed waited on the board, requesting that it provide two days' work per' week during the suspension of No. 5 scheme. Later it was decided that, owing to the fact that there are over 70 unemployed in Glen Eden, it was very much regretted, that the board was unable to comply with the request. Bus Services.—Complaints were received that the bus services were not satisfactory, and the clerk was instructed to write the A B.C. requesting that the matter be rectified, also that the penal fare on the first section (on Sundays) be removed. Anzac Day.—Arrangements were made for the celebration of Anzac Day at the Waikumete Cenotaph,; the order of service to be as last year.
Water Supply—The board decided to purchase the water supply pipes in Woodlands Road for the sum of £133. It was reported that the reticulation of the district was now practically complete. Mr. Martin, the road foreman, was appointed temporary turncock for three months. In reply to a request for financial help from the Inglewood Borough Council, towards defraying the cost of a recent action (Crown v. inglewood Borough Council), the board deeded to contribute £1 1/.
