MATAMATA UNION MEETS. WAIKATO UNION'S SCHEME SUPPORTED. (From Our Own Corespondent.) MATAMATA, Monday. The twenty-first annual meeting of the Matamata Rugby Union was held on Saturday, Mr. J. E. Cummings presiding. The report stated that the receipts were not as large as the previous year, but a credit of £56 was shown on the year's working. In addition the union had assets valued at £300. Congratulations were extended to W. H. .Carlson, A. Story, H. Elisor and S. Egan, who had gained Waikato representative honours, and to the two former at having been selected for the combined team against the British team. Mention was made that the junior representative team had withstood all challenges for the Boyce Cup during the season. Officers were elected as follow: — Patron, Mr. J. W. Anderson; president, Mr. J. E. Cummings; vice-presidents, Messrs.. J. Keane and Rev. A. C. Hampton ; treasurer. Mr. D. Morrow; secretary, Mr. C. E. Barry; management committee, Messrs. J. E. Cummings, W. Kuhtz, G. Wilson, D. Roigard, P. Cotter, and J. Barker; auditor, Mr. T. W. Mehrtens; (selectors, Mr. W. Ilollis (seniors), Mr. ."!. E. Barker (juniors), Mr. P. Laurie (thirds) ; hon. surgeons, Drs. J. T. Laurenson and Palmer; delegates to Waikato 'Rugby Union, Messrs. A. G. Yardley and J. E. Cummings. Messrs. E. and A. Eowler were .elected life members of the union in recognition of their generous donation of a playing area for football and cricket in Matamata. It was decided to support the Waikato Rugby Union's scheme fo/ the introduction of a Waikato sub-union championship.

TE KOHANGA CLUB'S SEASON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TUAKAU, Monday. At the annual meeting of the Te Kohanga Rugby Football Club, it was reported that the club had funds totalling £ 6 as a credit balance. The election of officers resulted : Patron, Mr. E. F. Muir; president, Mr. F. - Williams; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. Williams, A. Hull, K. Foster. R. McDermott, A. McGowan and C. ,Owen; secretary and treasurer, Mr. McGowan; management committee, Messrs. W. Lees, J. Lawson, P. Clark, D. Peter and P. Lawson; senior selectors, Messrs. Clark and J. Lawson; junior selectors, Messrs. R. Williams and W. Owen; delegates to the Franklin Union, Messrs, McGowan and W. Lawson.

TAUMARUNUI SUB-UNION. TAUMARUNUI, Mondiiy. At the annual meeting of the Taumarunui Rugby Sub-union the Taumarunui, Athletic, Manunui, Owhango and Raurimu Clubs were represented. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. T. M. Peters; president, Mr. A. E. Rice; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. Fraser, E. W. Beresford, B. Neary, Excell and A. S. McAlister ; secretary, Mr. J. H. Lynsliey; treasurer, Mr. -W. Miles; committee, Messrs. C. R. Smith, C. Manson, E. Mather, 'G. Porter, M. Sarah and \V. Wilson ; delegates to King Country Union, Messrs. R. Wilson, M. Sarah and A. E. Rice; auditor, Mr. S. Sarah.

TAIHAPE REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. TAIHAPE, Monday. The annual meeting of the Taihape Referees' Association took place on Saturday evening, the attendance being a record one. It was disclosed that the New Zea> land Rugby Referees* Association had suspended the Taihape body, pending receipt of an amount of £2 10/11. This was portion of the expenses of an outside delegate acting as proxy for the Taihape Association at the last annual conference of referees, held in Cliristchurch. After lengthy discussion it was decided to take the matter up with the N.Z.R.R.A., which has apparently overlooked correspondence from Taihape in connection with the matter. Officials clected were: Patron, Dr. M. Kronfeld: president, Mr. F. Ward; vice-presi-dent, Mr. L. 11. Hartley; secretary, Mr. C. H. Webb; treasurer, Mr. .7. Graham; executive, Messrs. W. Burton, A. T: Moore, and Rev. F. J. Handy ; appointment board, president and secretary; Rugby Union delegate, Rev. F. J. Handy.

WAIUKU V. GRAFTON. Saturday heralded the opening of the Rngbv season, when the Waipa fifteen met the Grafton team at Massey Park. lhe game resulted in a win for the home team, the score being 15—14.

CITY CLUB'S MEETING. The annual general meeting of the City Football Club was held this week, there being a good attendance of members. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a good financial position. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows Patron, Mr. J. H. Bracken ; president, Mr. A. F. Moncur; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Pyne, L. Cornthwaite, G. Brown, A. Hayter, D. Carter, H. Kissling, C. Neilson, F. Lysaght and C. Loane; secretary, Mr. R. G. Brown; treasurer, Mr. F. . . . MANUKAU SUB-UNION. A special general"meeting of the Manukau Rugby Sub-union was held at Papakura on Saturday. Representatives from the Auckland Rugby Union, Messrs. H. Frost and T. W. Maben, and Messrs. W. J. Short, 11. Curd, S. P. Day, and J. Mill from the South Auckland Union, were present. It was explained that in recent years the Manukau Sub-union had not prospered ® s , "well as it should, and difficulty was being experienced this year in finding sufficient teams for a live competition. Both the A,R.U. representatives and the S.A.R.U representatives promised support dii'ii the coming season They considered it ?■ p possible for them to send teams to the union during the season for friendly matches.
