AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION.
SEASON OPENS MAY 9.
The newly-elected executive of the Auckland Hockey Association met last night, when it was decided to open the season officially on May 3. Entries close on May 4 at 5.30 p.m. So that the Rankin Memorial Cup will be available for competition among all secondary schools tlie committee resolved to request permission to have the regulations altered accordingly. The following sub-committees were appointed :—Appointments, Messrs. H. E. Watts and W. Rankin; records and bulletin, Mr. G. Peace: reporting. Mr. W. B. Gillespie; advertising, Mr. J. N. Wilson; grounds, Messrs. S. Ferguson and R. Avery; entertainment, Messrs. YV. Rankin, J. N. Wilson and T. Clarke; junior hockey, Messrs. A. Williams and S. Ferguson; emergency committee, Messrs. A. Playle, E. J. Hewitt and H. E. Watts.
| TAIHAPE ASSOCIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, Monday. Mr. W. A. Smith presided over a good attendance at the annual meeting of the above association and commented on the successful season experienced last winter, the Taihape men's team winning the Raetihi tournament, and the ladies' representative team having an unbeaten record. The balance sheet disclosed a credit of £7 16/4. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. C._o. Gibbs; president, Mr. W. H. Fookes; vicepresidents, Messrs. H. Eaton, F. R. Howie, J. Quirk, G. Durrant, F. Hamill, H. Dashwood, P. E. Wakeman, H. H. Harris, J. E. Burr, W. A. .Smith, A. E. Patrick, Dr. D. L. Sinclair; secretary and treasurer, Mr. F. H. Bray; committee. Misses E. Tristram and J. Donaldson, Messrs. E. Fleet, K. Robinson, C. Keats, E. Sheath, R. Robinson ; selectors, Messrs. H. Eaton, W. A. Smith and C. H. Webb. Competitions will commence on April 23.
