PALESTINE POLICY. Mandate Must be Carried Out Fearlessly. LLOYD GEORGE HONOURED. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph— Copyright) (Received 12 >"oon.) LONDON. April 12. Mr. Lloyd George, whose name has been given to a colony in Palestine in gratitude for his services to Zionism. was the guest of the Zionist Federation of Great Britain at the Savoy Hotel. In the course of a speech he referred to the mandate, declaring that it must be carried out not nervously nor apologetically, but firmly and fearlessly as the policy in which Britain genuinely believed. The first duty of the Government was to protect the lives and properties of all citizens without respect to race or creed. Jews have a special claim to Canaan, he said, as they were the only people who had made a success of it in the past 3000 years. "Since the Jews have become enriched through contact with every civilisation on earth, we are entitled to expect great things from the Palestine experiment, the progress of which, since the mandate was issued, having been incredible. People who have faced age-long persecution will not turn back on account of a single squalid, cowardly riot."
