MINING NEWS.
GOLD AND SCHEELITE CO. Directors of the Golden Point Gold and Scheelite Co. visi/ed the mine at Macrae's Plat during Easter and inspected the new development work. The Bft reef exposed within the last three weeks continues in size, and th* gold and scheelite values are being maii:::''-."'d. Samples from the reef have been submitted to the Government Analyst and the Dunedin School of Mines, and the assays bear out those previously obtained in the other levels—namely an average of approximately loz 3dwts to the ton. The Dominion assay of the five samples taken from the face of the reef averaged over an ounce to the ton. and one from the dump of several hundred tons of ore loz °dwts 17grs. Four samples forwarded to tbe Dunedin School of Mines averaged loz 4dwts. The block comprised within the: area opened up by .the new reef is estimated : at 70.000 tons.
MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS
Moanataiari.—The mine manager reports that the drive on the footwall branch o| Xo 1 reef was advanced 3ft. total 20ft. Good colours of gold were seen in the ore. The hangings-all drive was advanced 4ft, total 117 ft, from the chamber. The reef is more compact and' shows colours of gold when broken. Work was delayed on account of the hulidnya and repairs to the main leveL
