SPEEDWAY CRASH.

MOTOR CYCLIST THROWN. STRIKES MACHINE IN FALL. A motor cyclist, Stanley Hieatt, aged 17, of Portage Road, Otahuhu. suffered laceration to the body when he was thrown from his machine at Henning's Speedway, Mangere, yesterday afternoon. Several riders had gone to the track to practice, and Hieatt, who was riding) an ordinary road machine without' special equipment for track work, was cornering to enter the home straight when his motor cycle started a speed wobble, unseating him. He was thrown heavily, and struck his machine as he fell. Other motor cyclists present estimated his speed when he crashed at 50 miles an hour. Hieatt was taken to the Auckland Hospital, and was reported this morning to be in a satisfactory condition.

EXPLOSION OF CARTRIDGE

MAORI YOUTH HURT. An unusual shooting accident occurred at Kaipara Flats on Saturday afternoon. A Maori, Robert Panui, aged 18, was carrying a cartridge in his hand, when he fell, striking the cap against a piece of-rock. The impact caused the cartridge to explode," and the youth's hand was severely lacerated by the bullet. He was brought to the Auckland Hospital by motor car on Saturday evening.

CABS IN COLLISION.

THREE VEHICLES INVOLVED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Saturday. Three vehicles were involved in a motor collision, which occurred at about 5 p.m. to-day on the hill leading into the borough, outside the residence of the Hon. A. J. Murdoch. A motor car was parked on a bend outside Mr. Murdoch's gate, and Mr. B. Linnell, who was driving toward Whangarei, was passing the stationary car at the same time as Mr. J. Durham ; driving a service car to Waipu, also endeavoured to pass. The cars came into violent collision, but fortunately no one was injured. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

THROWN FROM BICYCLE

A fracture of the left arm was received by Roy Turner, aged 16, of Taylor's Road, Mount Albert, yesterday, when he was thrown from his bicycle in New North Road, near the corner of Ascot Avenue. He was riding downhill when the front mudguard-of bis machine became caught in the wheel,, causing him to fall heavily.
