"ANXIOUS TO RUN."

WATERFRONT BUSES. SERVICES TO ST. HELIERJS. OPENING OF ROAD URGED. "We are an±ious to commence running on the waterfront road at the earliest possible moment, but we must have a few days' notice in order that the users of our transport services may be made fully aware of the change of route," stated Mr. L. J. Keys, of L. J. Keys, Ltd., this morning. Mr. Keys stated that there would be three routes. The main one would be along the waterfront road, via Mission Bay and Kohimarama, to St. Helier's. Another route would be through the suburb of Orakei, via the old ruins of St. Thomas* Church; while the third service would involve the running of feeder buses to and from the tram terminus at Meadowbank Road. All the formalities in connection with the services had been complied with, including the timetables and fares, which had been approved by the Transport Board. "If the City Council decides to wait for dedication of the road," said Mr. Kevs. "the delay will be a great blow to "the district*. I feel sure some arrangement can be arrived at between the engineers concerned for the inuue- J diate opening of the road. This roadwav will be much better in use than lying idle. The chips need working into the bitumen and this can be more I effectively done when the material is new. "During the last few weeks I have had interviews with the Public Works engineer, the Mayor and town clerk, and they have all expressed sympathy with me* in my desire to have the road opened at once. I think the works committee of the City. Council should, make the question one of urgency, and not wait until Thursday, the ordinary meeting day of the committee. If it agreed to take over the road then, it will be several days before the residents can be notified of the change of route. I would like to see the road . opened on Saturday so that the weekly and other' tickets may be issued on

Monday morning. - ' The Mayor (Mr. d. BaiWonl, when asked this morning if he had any statement to make, replied:—"l will have nothing to say until the works committee meets on Thursday.
