FAILED TO ACCOUNT.
BANK TELLER PLEADS GUILTY AMOUNT OF £50 INVOLVED. COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE, (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. Keith Fortescue Kenny pleaded guilty to-day in the Police Court to a charge that he failed to account for £50 paid, into the Bank of New Zealand by Thackey Cliaug. A. J. Wyatt, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Morrinsville, said accused had been employed in the bank at Morrinsville as teller. The £50 was not entered in the bank books and the bank held no lodgment. Accused explained that he used £25 to square a previous lodgment and the balance to pay off pressing debts.
Witness said accused had been in the bank at Morrinsville for six months and had been a most efficient servant during that time. - Since the discovery he had given every, assistance. Kenny had been in the service of the bank for 11 years and would probably forfeit. the money paid in under the superannuation scheme. Accused was committed ' to the Supreme Court at Auckland ,for sentence. Bail was allowed in two sureties in £100 each and his own recognisance of £100.
