i i Mr; and Mrs. G. Hopkins, who have been on a visit to the Dominion to relatives, are returning to their home in Suva to-day by the Aorangi.
Mr. and Mrs. John Tait, of Caulfield, Melbourne, passed through Auckland by the Aorangi, and intend spending three months in New York.
Amongst the Grand Hotel visitors are: Mesdames H. S. Reid (Sydney), Mrs, Sims and Miss Sims (Christchurch), Mrs, R. M* Duncan (Hunterville), and Mrs. McSweeney (Gisborne).
One of. the. latest rushes for office work was for a billet as typist. The advertisement produced eighty-nine applicants, and it is known that other qualified typists, anxious to obtain appointment, revoked their intention to apply when they became aware of the hopelessness of their chance.
At the Wesley Hall, To Aroha, on' Thursday evening, Miss Edna Stuck, who has been organist at the church for some time, was presented by Mr. C. Rayner, on behalf of the trustees and officers, with a jardiniere on the eve of her approaching marriage.
Dorothy Pirrit, of Auckland, left New Zealand by the Niagara for Sydney, where her sister, Miss Lilian Pirrit, joined her. They then went via Suez to England, arriving on February 14. Miss Dorothy Pirrit is on a year's exchange for teachers as arranged by the League of Empire. They both intended going to the Continent at Easter, writes our London correspondent, and during the summer will tour England and Scotland by car. The return journey to the i Dominion will be made via America.
