PORT OF WELLINGTON.
SURPLUS ON YEAR'S WORKING
RECORD IN NET TONNAGE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The annual report of tlie Wellington Harbour Board, for the year ended Sap. tember 30 last states that tne net sirplus 011 the year's working is £31,201, Keceipts totalled £484,341), a decrease of £13,573, and expenditure showed a decrease of £14,499. There was a moderate increase in the total trade of the, s port, and a record tonnage of shipping' arrivals. Approximately 34 per cent of the total imports and 25 per cent of the .total exports of the Dominion passed through Wellington. The value of overseas export for tlie port was £11,085,333, while the imports, including specie, were £16,107,499. a The total net registered tonnage of vessels arriving was 3,839,810, a record for the port. This is to some extent duo to the large number of whaling vessels visiting Wellington, and an increase in the average tonnage of vessels arriving.
