PIGEON FLYING.
ONEHUNGA CLUB
The Onehunga Pigeon Club flew their fourth race of their young bird programme from Poro-o-tarao. The winning bird flew the distance of 117 miles in 3 hours 35 minutes. Results :—- Mr. W. Sargent's w h Wonder Wings, 900 yds per minute. 1 Mr. F. K. Glass' r c c Rising Sun, 005.4 yds 2 Mr. W. Hadwin's bb c Stumpy, 905.1 yds 3 Also flew: Messrs. Garden and Prentice's Osman Queen, 904 yds per minute; Mr. J. Wallace's Stop It, S9syds; Mr. F. Steuning's Miss Joyce, 880 yds. Next Saturday the club will fly its eleventh contest for the single young bird championship cup from Paekakariki, an airline distance of 280 miles.
CORNWALL CLUB.
The above club flew a race from Te Kuiti, a distance of 103 miles. The winning bird, Mr. C. Young's Barker's Pride, arrived home in three hours. Results :— Mr. C. NORTH SHORE CLUB
The North Shore Pigeon Club flew its second race of the second series of young birds from Te Awamutu, an airline distance of 80 miles. Flying against a stiff headwind the birds returned a slow velocity. Messrs. Buchanan Bros.' r c c Report Junior proved to be the winner. Results : —■ Messrs. AUCKLAND SOCIETY,
Vne above society flew a young bird race from Te Kuiti in hot weather. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 10.30 a.m. and the winning; bird homed at Mr. T. NORTHERN RACING CLUB.
The above club flew a race from Taumarrinui, an airline distance of 143 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 10 a.m., and the first bird arrived at Mr. McPike's loft at 2.14 p.m., winning club and section prizes. Result: — WESTERN SECTION. The above club flew a race from Te Awamutu, an airline distance of S6 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster in hazy weather, and the winning bird homed to its loft after Hying for three hours. Results :— Mr. L. The Manunui Homing Pigeon Club flew the fourth race on the North young bird programme from Papakura, and after a fast fly Mr. J. Davis clocked in the winning bird with a velocity of 1254.4 yards per minute. Results :— Mr. J. Davis' Little Thrush. 12S4.4yds 1 Mr. R. Patterson's Royal Routine, 1280.7 yds l> Mr. J.
