TROTTING TRACK.
MISHAP TO GOLDEN TREASURE
SOME USEFUL. WORK.
BENEFICE SHOWS SPEED,
If anything the little rain during the early part of this morning made the track at Epsom better than it has been for weeks past, and there was a total absence of duet.
Mignonne worked two miles alone. She covered the trip in 4.40, the last mile and a half in 3.23 3-5. She did her work well.
Rolfe Audubon worked about nine fur longs, moving comfortably throughout.
Lord Lu and Explosion were companions in a workout. The pair kept together for a mile and a half in 3.38 4-5, when Lord Lu was pulled up, and Explosion went on to complete two miles in 4.47. He came home his last half mile in 1.8 1-5.
After a slow beginning Benefice stepped two miles, the first halt' in 1.15 2-5, mile in 2.24 3-5, mile and a half in 3.32, and two miles in 4.29. She did, not go eo well as on Saturday, when she went seconds better. She showed a lot of speed over the last mile this morning, running 2.12 4-5, her last half in 1.5 1-5.
Golden Huia was once eent over two miles, and later a mile and three-quarters, but though she trotted without mistake fine showed no pace.
A great finish to a good piece of work was witnessed when Pavlova (G. Smith) jumped off to go two miles. After going a half in 1.12 2-5, she was picked up by Carnui (F. Smith), and a furlong further on Jock Bingen (McKendriek) joined in, but was standing Pavlova and Carnui up about eight lengths start. Pavlova led to the mile in 2.23 1-5, and reached the mile and a half in' 3.32. Jock Bingen had made up most of hie leeway, and was now trailing Carnui, who was on the outside of Pavlova. Over the last half Carnui skipped three times, but he galloped back into his straps and did not lose much. There was a great go over the last furlong, Pavlova winning by a head from Carnui and Jock Bingen, who were on terms, all three being driven right out. Pavlova covered her two miles iu 4.39. Carnui went his mile and a half in 3.26 3-5, but Jock Bingen, who went just over a mile and a quarter, must have stepped a good go. as he conceded his companions a eolid start. Prince Etawah was worked alone, pacing a mile and a half in 3.31 2-5, his mile in 2.23, and the last half in 1.8 2-5. Thelma Mack, doing her best, went a mile and a half in 3.31 4-5. Dad's Hope was only jogging to pace a mile and a half in 3.41. Carl Mack, with Direct Action fin .middle) worked a mile and a half. Carl Mack trotted without mistake in 3.41 2-5, but Direct Action put in one break, soon getting down again. When walking along a road yesterday Gold Treasure fell and cut one of his knees, and was not on the track this morniiifr. .ft is not known whether the injury i< serious enough to cancel his trip to the Thames.
