TAX-FREES ADVANCE FURTHER

The recent forward movement in Government tax-free bonds was continued this morning, with buyers offering £96. As recently as March 10 these bonds sold as low as'£93 10/. With this exception the week opened rather dull. Bank shares were easier, though there was little change in quotaInsurances were firm and unchanged. In industrials Farmers' Trading were a little firmer, with buyers at 6/3. and Milne and Clioyce shares were wanted at 18/6. A buyer for Sanford ordinaries came forward with an offer of 5/6. Kuala Kampar Tins were again in request, with a buyer at 6/. For Government s%'a £99 was offered for the 1933 issue and £98 15/ for the 193C's. At Noon Call. Tax-free 4% per cent Government Loan share,*, both bond and inscribed, firmed ;-./ all round at the noon call, but £96 5/ offered did not bring in any sellers. The buying offers for Colonial Sugar shares also advanced 10/, but here again no sellers quoted. Inquiry was made for Timaru Brewery. 5/ paid shares, at o/o, but sellers asked 8/. National Bank of Australia contributing shares eased to buyers at £5, with sellers at 9/ advance on that rate. Lnion Bank <»f Australia shares firmed 6d, being wanted at £8 8. This brought in a seller at £8 ].5/. Bank of New Zealand shares were not quite so firm, buyers offering £2 10/9, but sellers still asked £2 11/6. SALES COMPLETED. Last Sale. AT THE 10 A.M.
