WATKRLINE'S RAWSON

STAKES. FIRST ACRE VICTORIOUS. SYDNEY, March 22. Fresh from his triumph over Phar Lap in the C. M. Lloyd Stakes at Flemington, the New- Zealand-bred gelding Waterline ecored a comfortable victory in the Rawson Stakes at Rosehill yesterday, when the course was heavy. The three-year-olds, Balloon King and Veilmond were in the places behind Waterline. Vcilmond and Waterline were first prominent Balloon King took charge along the back of the course and led into the straight a length clear of Waterline. A furlong from the poet Waterline challenged, and won by a length and a quarter, with Veilmond half a head away third. The New Zealander, First Acre, who arrived only two or three weeks ago, Avon the Autumn Handicap, one mile and a half, in good style.
