NEW SCHOOL HALL.

AVONDALE BAPTIST CHURCH.

There was a large attendance at the Avondale Baptist Church grounds on Saturday, when the vice-president of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, Mr. F- W. Gaze, laid the foundation stone of the new school hall. The minister, the Rev. H. Knowles Kempton, presided, and the speakers were Mr. Tyler, president of the Auckland Sunday School Union, the Rev. A. W. Grigg, president of the Auckland Auxiliary to the Baptist Union, the Rev. J. W. Kemp, minister of the Tabernacle, Dr. J. J. North, principal of the Theological College, Mr. A. C. Stewart, Dunedin, who ha'd offered his services as builder free of charge, and Mr. A. W. Turley, superintendent of the local Sunday School. Messages of congratulation were received from the secretarv and the president of the New Zealand Baptist Union. The offerings amounted to £50.
