CHRISTCHURCH RESOLUTION.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, this day
The Government's proposals for a reduction in wages were severely criticised at a mass demonstration which was held in Christchurch yesterday. A procession carrying banners marched from the railway station to Latimer Square, where a crowd of over 2000 heard addresses by the chairman (Mr. Morgan Williams), Mr. Cook, president of the Alliance of Labour, and Mr. Roberts, secretary of the Alliance.
The meeting unanimously passed the following resolution: "That the proposed wages reduction as put forward by the Prime Minister is unjust, and we pledge burself to do all in our power to prevent it coming into operation. We further pledge ourselves fully to carry out the policy that will be laid down |>y the National Industrial Committee jfc. the event of Parliament passing the proposed legislation,"
