BOXING.
DONOVAN AMBITIOUS. LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE BOUT. Tommy Donovan, feather-weight boxing champion of New Zealand, will endeavour to add the lightweight title to his belt when ho meets Harry Johns, tho Auckland and New Zealand champion, at tlic Town Hall, on Mondayevening. Johns won the lightweight championship on his first appearance as a professional, and now in his second fight he will defend it. Johns will have to be at the top of his form to score over Donovan, for the feather-weight champion is a hard and experienced battler, whoso aggressiveness alone has accounted for many of his opponents. Very entertaining to watcli, Donovan packs action into every second of each round, and it takes a clever man to out-box or out-fight him. Sarron failed to beat him, and Australian importations, with the exception of Blav, also failed, and in the opinion of many Johns will need all his speed and cleverness. However, the lightweight champion is in hard training, and is confident that he will win. Great interest is being taken in the match in sporting circles, and it appears that there will be a packed house on Monday evening. Recent fights in Auckland have been exceptionally good, and this match should recommend itself to all fight lovers, for they will have the opportunity of seeing Donovan, a man of whom much has been heard, opposed to the clever local and New Zealand champion.
