ODDFELLOWS CONFER.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The fourty-fourth session of the Independent Order of Oddfellows was continued in the Pitt Street Hall yesterday, the grand master, Mr. D. F. Smillie, of Palmerston North, presiding. It was resolved to request the Grand Lodge to increase the third rate of sick pay to 10/ a week, to make permanent the present rate of 7/0 a week sick pay, and to establish an old members' dues fund from which would be paid to every benefit member of the Order over 65 years of age £1 a year off his sick and funeral fund dues. A visitor to the session was Mr. L. D. Ritchie, grand sire of the Grand Lodge of Australasia, who gave an interesting address on the state of the Order. Officers for the ensuing term were elected as follow:—Grand master, Mr. J. I. G. Somcrville; deputy-grand master, Mr. A. J. Guy; grand warden, Mr. H. J. Clark; grand treasurer, Mr. L. D. Ritchie; representatives to grand lodge of Australasia, Messrs Smillie, Hooper, Guy, Crooke, Somerville and Newbold.
