AUCKLAND ROTARY CLUB.
TO-DAY'S MEETING.
,S, COXSUL-GEXERAL'S ADDRESS.
There was the usual full attendance at to-day's lunch meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club, held in Milne and Choyce's reception hall. The president, Rotarian C. J. Tunks, occupied the chair, and Visitors included Messrs. W. A. Spragg (Hawera), F. A. Jones (Wellington), W. W. Thomson (Xew Plymouth), James Dalyrymple (Glasgow), W. J. Smith (Sydney).
Mr. F; J. C. Wilson was installed as a member.
The speaker of the day was the American Consul, Rotarian W. F. J3ovie, •vho chose as his subject his old home town, Augusta, in .the State of Georgia, He gave a highly interesting account 'if conditions existent in the Southern states of America, and drew a picture ;>f absorbing interest concerning the habits and characteristics of the negroes who form a large proportion of tlw; •opulation ij» many of these Southern towns. Special reference was made to the spiritual tendencies which are a marked feature in the life of the coloured people.
