MANUKAU CRUISING CLUB.
The Manukau Cruising Club held two championship races on Saturday. A light northerly wind prevailed at the start, but fell away to a calm at 3 p.m. In the 10ft and under championship Sea Gnome was first away, and at the first mark had a good lead. One by one the others retired. Sea Gnome finished at Oh 40m 595. Sea Gnome won the -McGahan Cup for the fourth year in succession. In the race for the champion cup, Daphne Avas first away,. followed by Aoma, Drone and Sylvia. Daphne and Drone withdrew, and the other boats did not finish within the time limit. The race for motor boats which were steered by a lady member resulted in an easy win for Miss Manukau, Cremorne and Karma both experiencing engine trouble. Master Burgess won the model yacht race. The officials in charge of the racing were : Starter, Mr. ,T. Kcegan : model yacht superintendent, Mr. V. Matthews; timekeepers, Messrs. T. E. Smith and .T. C. Sibbin. The club's annual picnic was held yesterday at Mission Bay. There was a good attendance of members and friends, and a sports programme was carried out. The Onehunga Band added to the popularity of the outing. MANUKAU YACHT CLUB. The Manukau Yacht Club tendered a fishing excursion yesterday to their donors and vice-presidents. Quite a big party left the main wharf at 9 a.m. Good catches were reported, especially by the boats which visited the Heads. OTAHURTT SAILING CLUB. The Otahuhu Sailing Club held a race on Saturday afternoon over the usual course, ten boats competing. After a good contest the result was:—Caprice 1, Marie 2, Ventura'§•
