MALTA DISPUTE.

DEPUTATION TO BRITAIN.

(Received 1.30 p.m.) MALTA, February 22. The Nationalist leaders have cabled the leaders of the three political parties in Britain, stating that Lord Strickland's delegation from the Maltese Parliamentarians which is visiting London and is due to interview Lord Passfield, Colonial Secretary, to-morrow, represents a minority in Malta. The statement protests against any constitutional amendments curtailing the religious and civic rights and trusts that Britain will refrain from interfering in local questions, thereby '"lending itself to partisan intrigues to the detriment of [Malta, whose religion and national rights Britain formally pledged herself to defend on taking Malta under her protection."
