Liberal Defection and Tory
Reorganisation.
MR. W. RUNCIMAN TO RETIRE
(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 22. Mr. Neville Chamberlain admits that the changes in the staff of the Conservative organisation, which their opponents are attributing to the failure of the Conservative party to make headway, were desired by the party leaders. Lord Joicev, a prominent North Country life-long Liberal, has announced his secession from the party on account of its support for Labour. Mr. Walter Bunciman has decided to retire from Parliament next election and devote himself wholly to business.
CHURCHILL'S FUTURE.
STATEMENT THIS WEEK,
(Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, February 22. Mr. Winston Churchill is expected to make a statement concerning his own political future at a meeting of Conservatives in his constituency this week.
