UNEMPLOYED PROBLEM.
DAY OF INTERCESSION,
CO-OPERATTOX OF CHURCHES
As a result of representations made by the Primate, Archbishop Averill, the Roman Catholic Church lias agreed to co-operate with the Anglican Church in observing Sunday, March 8, throughout New Zealand as a special day ot' intercession for the guidance of those who are dealing with the problem of unemployment. It is hoped that other churches also will take part in the intercession on that day. A number of Wellington business men approached the General Synod of the Anglican Church and suggested that the special intercession should be made. The Primate was asked to seek the cooperation of other churches in order to make it as universal as possible. Archbishop Redwood has agreed to the proposal on behalf of the Cathodic Church, and Archbishop Averill has communicated with the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, asking that the day be recognised officially "as a national and civic day of prayer for guidance in these difficult times." It is hoped that the day will be observed throughout the Dominion under the sanction of the Government.
