WHAKATANE, this day

News is just to hand that the Minister of Native Affairs, Sir Apirana Ngata, has completed arrangements for the purchase of hill areas adjacent to Whakatane for purposes of native land settlement. The areas include the hill portion of the Whakatane Development Company's land, approximately 950 acres, also land owned by Messrs. N. Carter and W. A. Smith, 550 acres, and the back portion of Mr. L. Buddie's Ohope estate, about 000 acres.
