SNOWDEN'S TESTS.
Sternest Struggle of Career in Facing Party Meeting. LEFT WING OPPOSITION. ("Times" Cables.) LONDON, February 15. It is'generally felt that the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Philip Snovvden, will be engaged in one of the sternest struggles of his career when he meet 3 the whole bf the members of the Parliamentary Labour party on Tuesday. His critics arc determined to secure 'more definite ideas as to his intentions. The attack by tlie leader of the Liberals, Mr. Lloyd George, on the city of London obviously was directed to the Labour "back-benchers" and it has not rendered Mr. Snowden's meeting with the party easier. Extremists regard it as a welcome antidote to Mr. Snowdens home truths. Also Mr. George's attack has accentuated the irritation of the extremists against Mr. Snovvden. They are complaining bitterly that it has been left to a Liberal to give a fighting lead. It is one of the ironies of the situation that Mr. George at present is the left wing's "white-headed boy." Mr. Snowden's critics believe that the pressure they are now able to exert will ensure a modification of his attitude. Sir Oswald Mosley and his back-bench associates', in view of the pending meeting, ■ have issued a further rtianifesto a°ainst the Government, declaring that it 3 has failed to develop an economic policy and now is producing an attack against the standard of living. . They 'say the present attack on wages will result in industrial disputes. The fault will be. on neither side of industry, but disputes will be inevitable until the Government adopts a policy which will avoid disaster.
