UNEMPLOYMENT AND IDEALISM.
We read of chairmen of public bodies ui heads of large firms who advocate reduction in wages and who show their sympathy "with the unemployed by adding materially to their numbers as many of their employees as can possibly be spared. We are heartily sick of reading of these things, and I think that the reverse aspect of the problem should be presented wherever possible. Last Monday the head of one of Queen Street's leading firms called every man on the staff together wd presented his sentiments on the subject. If his views could be published they would prove far more of the ideal attitude in ■ business relationships than most of the speeches wi hear and read. NOT ONE OF THE FIRM.
