MANY MEN AT WQRK. TEMPORARY PHONE EXCHANGE. (By Telegraph.—"Star" Special Reporter.) NAPIER, this day. The Public Works Department has 400 men on the demolition, roading and clearing-up work in Napier and 200 on the county roads. The Post and Tele graph Department has over 200 men Napier in all departments' and 160 in Hastings. ' Semi-permanent aeflommodhtion is being erected. • A- steam navvy with jaw grips and I mounted on a crane has commenced |, biting, into the old Napier Post Office. A temporary telephone exchange is to be erected on the roadway opposite the old site. •
