MAYOR'S FUND, £13,125. "STAR" TOTAL NEARLY £3000 SEVERAL BIG CONTRIBUTIONS AUCKLAND'S. FINE RESPONSE. - Contributions to-day to the . Mayor's fund for the relief of the earthquake victims, of Hawke's Bay brought the total to £13,125 5/5. . At 12.30 p.m. to-day, the contributions to the fund conducted by the "Auckland Star" had attained, a total of £2910' 13/5. ; ' Several notable donations' have been made. The Orange Hall Trust and the Orangemen and women of - Auckland have given £300 to the Mayor's' lists and the amounts given' by Milne, and Choycc, Ltd., the management and-tlic stall'; total £333 0/3. The Auckland Transport Board's gift of £250 has also been added to the Mayor's list and the City .Council has made a second con-; tribution of £262 10/. • ■ A New York Rotarian, Mr. C. Petze, who has been visiting Auckland, has given £20 9/10,_ an amount equal to 100 dollars. . ~ The activity of the Church "in the earthquake region was described at a meeting of! the Baptist: Assembly last, evening. The president, the Rev. A. J. Grigg, said more than £300 had been collected from Baptist churches iu Auckland for relief purposes. A decision to forward- £25 for distribution among ex-servicemen who had suffered by the earthquake was reached at last evening's meeting of the Auck-'. land Returned Soldiers'. The president, Sir George Richardson,i reported that the central executive had. given £100 to the general fund. At a meeting yesterday afternoon, the . Board of Managers of the -SeddOn, Memorial Technical College voted £100 to the Mayor's fund and also agreed to offer materials to aid in the restoration of activities of the Technical School at Napier. The sum of. £12 10/6 was contributed: to tl.tr Mount Eden Borough Council's, fund by the children of Brixton Road! School. - •
