FLAGPOLES.
With "Visitor," I have often wondered flagpoles liave a place on many Auckland buildings. Standing in Albert.Park 0.11 Thurs- :;j || day last, the number of -half-mast flags brought, home the fact, of the appalling national di?aster 'in.a very special sense. Again, the-number - - of poles guiltless of any sign seemed a^reproach; to the civic courtesy bf the city. 1 -have. noticed the lack on several.'big. occasions, but r-:-r since the .present- calamity in our very -'-*'-....! brings forth only, the same response the case ■seems hopeless. , . .
