Details of the liold-up show that three men entered the bank just on closing time. One shut the doors while the others presented revolvers at the tellers and one customer.
All were herded into the teller's box and covered by two of the gunmen, while the third gathered notes amounting to £950.
They escaped by dropping 14 feet from the rear windows of the premises. The bank staff were taken unawares and were powerless.
A Perth message states that an attempt to rob the city branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia was made by a young man, but the teller shot him in the arm and lie was arrrsted after a chase.
An elderly man who heard the shot rushed into the bank. He thought the teller with a revolver in his hand was the robber and held him down. Another man who knew the teller tried to release him and during the struggle the thief escaped.
