GOLDEN WEDDING.

Afc the Eangitoto tea, kiosk on Saturday evening a party was arranged by an energetic committee of ladies under Mrs. J. Newton arid Mrs. A. Sullivan, who issued invitations' to bach owners and visitors at Eangitoto, Islington Bay and Eangitoto Beacon to meet at a social gathering to celebrate the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Pooley and present them vwitli a small token of their esteem. Mr. Pooley Las been custodian of the island for many years. The inauguration of the motor bus on the island enabled visitors from the outlying resorts to attend and thus brought together the largest gathering yet held of old and young people from all over the island. Mr. Munroc, speaking on behalf of the Kangitoto and Eangitoto Beacon residents, welcomed the guests and described the early work of Mr. and Mrs. Pooley. He then made the presentation of two handsome arm chairs, .expressing the hope that they would enjoy their use for many years to come, j Miss Betty Watson, on behalf of the ladies, presented Mrs. Pooley with a pretty, quaint cup and saucer and plate, and Master Austin Mojr, aged 3 years, presented a small bouquet. Mr. Hedlund, on behalf of the residents of Islington Bay, presented and pinned 011 Mr. Pooley's breast "the long service matrimonial medal," a handsome silver medal, duly inscribed, after expressing the esteem in which the Bay people held him. He said he hoped to have the same honour at their diamond wedding. Mrs. Gardener and Miss Jean Knocks, on behalf of the ladies of Islington Bay," each presentod Mrs. Pooley with beautiful bouquets. The room was then cleared for dancing, which with games, songs and recitations, and supper brought a very pleasant evening to a close. ,
