GENEROUS GIVER.

WELLINGTON RESIDENT

GIFTS FOR HOSPITAL INMATES.

Thanks to the generosity, of Mr. Thomas Dwan, of Wellington, every patient in Auckland Hospital received a present on New Year's Eve. Mr. Dwan, accompanied by Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the Hospital Board, made a visit of inspection to the institution on the morning of December '31, and 011 its conclusion offered to donate £50 for the immediate supply of gifts to the inmates. Mr. Dvvan's offer was accepted, and the night of the New Year was brightened for every patient in the direction intended by the donor. Mr. Dwan inquired from Mr. Wallace the position regarding the radio apparatus for the hospital, and learned that £200, which had been donated, was available, and that the matter was in the hands of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. "If they get to work, I will give them £50," said Mr. Dwan.
