TRAM REVENUE LOWER.
EFFICIENT SERVICES RUN.
NO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. '
Tliero was a decrease of £1033 in the revenue derived from the Christmas tram traffic this year, as compared with last year's figures. The revenue in the period of 13 days that ended on January 2 was £23,637, as compared with £24,070 for the same period last year. "The traffic, bearing in n'ind the effect of the present depression on all forms of business, was good," said the general manager of the Auckland Transport Board, Mr. A. E. Ford, this morning. "Tho service has been maintained without the slightest interruption or hitch of any kind, and there have been no accidents of a serious nature. _ This reflects great credit on the attention to duty of the men running the trams. "The Christmas Eve traffic," continued Mr. Ford, "was most efficiently handled. The people patronising the trams were convenienced far more than if they had to walk to the foot of Customs and Queen Streets with their parcels in order to obtain a car. The people were cleared from tho safety zones with regularity, and everything points to the fact that the running of trams in Queen Street was. much appreciated.
